The Nick O’Neill – Encore Repertory Scholarship

Objective:

The Nick O’Neill – Encore Repertory Scholarship has been established to promote the advancement of theatrical arts in the Blackstone Valley and awareness of the Stadium Theatre and Encore Repertory Company as a primary supporter and provider of performance arts by providing financial assistance to area students who participate in Encore presentations and who pursue theatrical arts as their major in college.

Amount:

The Scholarship will award between $500 and $2,500 to one or more applicants selected by a committee that includes representatives of Nick O’Neill’s family, the Stadium Theatre Foundation and Encore Repertory Company. The actual amounts awarded and the number and identity of recipients in a given year are at the discretion of this committee.

Qualifications:

You qualify to be an applicant if you are a  high school senior or currently enrolled undergraduate college student who has participated in at least 3 Encore Repertory Company productions (with at least one production being in the year prior to the application deadline). Participation includes on-stage performance and also behind-the scenes technical contributions such as direction, stage management, sound, lights, costumes, and set design and construction.

You must attend or plan to attend a 2 or 4 year accredited college with a declared theatre arts major and you must register for at least two theatre arts credit courses in the Fall semester. You must complete your first semester with satisfactory grades - no grades less than “C” or “satisfactory” or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent – demonstrated by your official school transcript.

Application:

You must submit your completed application and attachments by April 15. The form of application and other requirements is attached. The selection committee will review your application and other materials and will let you know by May  15, if you have been selected for a scholarship.

Notification:

• All applicants, including recipient(s), will be notified of decision by May 15

• For recipient(s) of scholarship, a notice will be sent to high school principal(s) or announcement at graduation

• For recipient(s) of scholarship, a notice will be sent to local media for publication

• Stadium Theatre Plaque with annual gold plates announcing winners
