From the Executive Producer

Over the past nine years, our team of creative and talented volunteers has been developing and performing Broadway style revues and most recently full scaled major musicals.  These include, "Bye, Bye, Birdie", "The Wizard of OZ", and Rogers and Hammerstein's, "Cinderella" , "Fiddler On The Roof", "Peter Pan", "A Chorus Line" and an incredibly successful 2003 performance of "The Wizard of Oz".  Back for the second time in as many years Encore Repertory Company,  during this past Christmas season, performed the age old Christmas standard of "A Christmas Carol".  Though badgered by a major snow storm Director Chris O'Neill and the Encore Repertory Company cast and crew were able to perform a memorable rendition.   The Spring 2004 production of "My Fair Lady", directed by Roger MacDonald was very enthusiastically received and comments from the audiences ranged from, "Fantastic"!, "The best Encore performance yet" to, "PPAC couldn't have done it better". Although competing with the Boston Red Sox, "Annie” was a success both artistically and financially.

In December, 2004, taking a break from “A Christmas Carol”, we presented an original adaptation of “Miracle on 34th Street” written and directed by Chris O’Neill. In March, “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, skillfully directed by Fred Fortier; who also directed “Annie”, was Encore’s first bold venture in presenting a dramatic play. This was followed by Chris O’Neill’s clever, and colorful vision of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. The comments of Gerry Baszner of MA. reflects the enthusiasm of many who saw the production.  “Many years, I was fortunate enough to see Donny Osmond perform as Joseph at the Colonial. A few years ago, I took my young nephew and niece to see another production of this play at the Colonial. Needless to say, I really enjoyed this play. I must say, however, that the performance at the Stadium (Theatre) was every bit as professional and as enjoyable as both of the Boston productions of this musical”

We have had a very successful 2005 – 2006 season with Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast”, A Christmas Carol”, “Noises Off”, “The Sound Of Music” and our very first ENCORE KIDS production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. in July.
Our next production is “Peter Pan” preformed on October 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, and the 22nd.
So far we have raised $418,000 to benefit the Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre and over 50,000 patrons have attended our past performances.

Although the effort, beginning in 1997, began as a single fund raising event, it has evolved into a legitimate and respected Theater Company, which many people in northern Rhode Island and beyond have come to identify with the Stadium Theater Performing Arts Center. With each production, we have made every effort to increase the quality and professionalism of our shows, yet at the same time, keeping them family affordable. The Encore Repertory Company also gives the area’s talented and creative artists the opportunity to perform in this magnificent venue.

To all of you who have supported us by attending our performances in the past. Thank you and we will see you soon at the beautifully restored Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Centre.
